Smartphone monitoring for criminal justice supervision is not a new concept​.  Various programs have been available since at least 2015.  Slow adoption by the market can be attributed to not enough clients owning smartphones, inadequate smartphone monitoring and tracking features, and complicated systems that are not intuitive and require hours of training.
